Taylor Firefighter Graduates Texas Fire Chiefs Academy

TAYLOR, Texas – The City of Taylor Fire Department is pleased to announce the graduation of Lieutenant Wes Russell from the 2019 Texas Fire Chiefs Academy, held recently in Round Rock. Lieutenant Russell has earned the professional designation of Certified Fire Executive.
The Texas Fire Chiefs Academy is organized by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association and helps current and aspiring chief officers prepare for career advancement. According to Taylor Fire Chief Daniel Baum, attendees complete two one-week long sessions, typically over two consecutive years.
“The course is a great opportunity for attendees to learn from current fire service leaders, network with other attendees from across Texas, as well as hear from nationally recognized speakers about current leadership topics,” Chief Baum said.
Lieutenant Russell has been with the Taylor Fire Department since June 10, 2000. Lieutenant Russell was previously the Assistant Chief and is currently a Captain with the Weir Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as an instructor for the CAPCOG Reset Hazmat Technician class under the direction of Williamson County Special Operations and the Fire Marshal’s office. Lieutenant Russell said he receives strength and support to do it all from his wife, Lucia, and daughter Makaela.
